2007. Savior

   It is familiar that all “growing” countries that geographically belong to the Europe continent have the same goal - to go through the transition period- execute everything demanding –so that they can become members of EU. My country, Serbia, is of course, one of them.

   Since Serbia was very isolated for a long time and Serbian people are very proud, I wanted to make a kind of statement on transition infiltration/by using the existing Serbian coat of arms as a starting point. The specific thing about it is that it has 4 letters “S” from Cyrillic alphabet, as initials of meaning: Само Слога Србина Спашава, or translated to English: Only unity saves Serbians!

   Looking back, through heraldic history, symbolic signs were most commonly used on documents, helmets, shields and costumes, so that they can intimidate/scare-off the opponents/enemies. Therefore, instead of “unity”, witch usually takes part in “savoring”, I have infiltrated the € sign, that should present the invisible “force” and become the symbol of salvation.

   So symbolically, to start this idea of euro becoming a “savior” that will unite us.. I have ordered a handcraft coat of arms to be made and paid it in euros... I’ve picked handcraft medium, with it’s folk-ethno esthetic, so that the intervention could hardly be recognized.
